There are many different reasons why UPVC or Aluminium might be the most suitable material to use for your replacement window project.
UPVC typically achieves higher standards of thermal efficiency, and there are a wider range of more traditional design options to choose from, including sash and traditional ‘timber-alternative’ styles like Flush casements. It is also generally a much cheaper material to use than aluminium.
However, Aluminium also has its positives. It is often more easily available in a wider range of colours and would be considered a more durable material to use long-term. The strength of the material also means that the frames can be significantly thinner than UPVC, therefore increasing the glazed area of your windows.
As ever, it’s important to do your research, and to consult with the relevant specialist to work out the best material approach for your windows and doors, to suit your tastes, requirements, and budget.
