Steel has been used to make windows for over 100 years. Its strength means that it can achieve a slimline look, however, it requires regular maintenance, is extremely heavy, and struggles to achieve the high standard of thermal efficiency expected of modern glazing.
Aluminium can be a perfect alternative to steel. It is also very strong meaning that the original slimline frames can be replicated almost to the millimetre. It is lightweight and easily recyclable and requires little to no maintenance. It also easily achieves high thermal efficiency standards using modern thermal-break technology, and hi-spec double glazed units. Last but not least, it’s typically significantly cheaper then steel.
